Those of us who know former University of Delaware cross-country and track and field coach CRR Jim Fischer are indeed thinking how bittersweet an honor this must be for him to be told he’ll be so received by the same institution that five years ago took away from him the job he so loved.
Supremely respected in this community, Fischer will indeed be inducted into the University of Delaware Sports Hall of Fame class of 2016 on October 28, along with other UD sports greats, including Baltimore Ravens’ quarterback Joe Flacco.
Congratulations, Coach. No one is worthier of this honor, for all you’ve done for so many over three decades of coaching. See Blue Hen Athletics story. See University of Delaware article.
She loves racing, particularly when there are no men around (just kidding). CRR Diane Kukich won the 60-64 age group in the Women’s Race for the Pink Ribbon 5K in Wilmington yesterday, finishing 22nd overall out of 448 runners in 24:48. For her troubles, she won a pineapple. Here’s hoping the fruit of her labors tastes as sweet as another age-group victory.
