First-person accounts are essential, so CRR Steve Goodwin provides a glimpse of his experiences so far at the Olympic Games in Rio.
“I have gotten a few runs in along the beach in Mangaratiba and Sao Paulo. There is an incredibly steep and long hill; I am going to try to conquer it tomorrow. I did about 80%. It is easily the steepest hill I have ever run and it is about 1/5 of a mile. Brutal! Charlie [CRR Charlie Riordan] may not even like this one!
“We have also played soccer a number of times, including on Copacabana Beach. It was a real international affair with players from Brazil, USA, Mexico, and Finland. Enjoying the Games. Going to beach volleyball tomorrow. Have already seen the Women’s basketball (saw USA and Elena [Delle Donne]), men’s soccer, and team handball. We [will be] going to track and field, badminton, and the women’s soccer semis. Tickets are inexpensive and readily available.”
