CRR Matt Robinson, while he was the Interim Athletic Director at the University of Delaware, worked behind the scenes to help bring to the Bob Carpenter Center a showcase pre-Olympic event, featuring the women’s USA Basketball team, .
“The Delaware Sport Commission (DSC) is excited about the opportunity to work with USA Basketball again and further strengthen our relationship with the U.S. Olympic Movement,” said Robinson, chairman of the commission and sport management professor at UD. “The DSC, UD Athletics, and Gene Delle Donne worked with USA Basketball throughout the spring to get it done. It was a true team effort. As a UD faculty member, hosting such a high-profile international event fits with the University’s mission of being a global university. Finally and most importantly, it is great that Elena [Delle Donne] will have the chance to play before her Delaware family before chasing her dream of winning gold at the Rio Games.”
What Robinson neglected to mention is that it’ll be a chance for UConn/USA Coach Geno Auriemma to visit the place where Elena Delle Donne played her college ball.


Leading the way and placing 5th overall (out of 201 participants) was Dean of the Lerner Business School and CRR Bruce Weber, who won the 50-59 age group in 20:07.
