It seems that when CRR Diane Kukich wants to compete, she looks for the not-so-run-of-the-mill competitions and always performs well. March 6 was no exception, as she won her age group (60-69) in the 3rd Annual Central YMCA Tri-Scramble indoor triathlon.
Kukich ran 3 miles on the treadmill in 23:58, covered 15 miles on the stationary cycle in 38:20, and swam 500 yards (20 laps) in the pool in 10:11. Her total time of 1:12:29 placed her 22nd overall out of 53 competitors. She was the 5th female finisher overall and would have come in either first or second in all the other female age groups except the 20-29s! She finished more than 20 minutes ahead of the second-place finisher in her age group. Wow.
CRR Diane Kukich represented the Creek Road Runners on the podium at last Friday’s Reindeer Run 5K in Newark. She won the 60-64 age group in 24:46, placing 36th among all women in the race and 170th overall out of 1,035 finishers. Way to go!
Back on November 7th, the second annual Rock-N-Roll 5K was held at the Newark Country Club. This unique, local cross-country 5K saw three Creek Road Runners take age-group firsts.
CRR Diane Kukich won the 60-69 age group in 25:58, and CRR Mary Braun took the 50-59 group in 27:17.
Leading the way and crossing the line 4th overall out of 256 finishers was CRR Bill Rose. Rose weaved his way through many a runner over the course to finish where he did, having run an even 20:00. Creek Road Runners owned the 50-59 age group; Rose won and was joined by 2nd place finisher CRR Mark Deshon (21:08) and 3rd place finisher CRR Cole Galloway (21:12), whose son, Nathan, came in second overall with a tidy 18:23.
