October and November bring cooler weather and some good opportunities for unique races—a one-mile dash down Main Street, a rare 15K (with post-race party), two golf-course 5Ks, a road/trail 10-miler (with post-race brunch), and the hardest road 5K in Delaware (with post-race lunch buffet). Junior (redshirt sophomore) Sam Parsons, son of CRR George Parsons and CRR Christina Parsons, placed fourth at the ACC Men’s Cross Country Championship on Friday, helping his N.C. State Wolfpack team to a second place finish. Sam has been running well at the DI level and ran the 8K course outside Charlottesville, Va., in a stunning 23:25 (that’s in the neighborhood of 4:41 per mile on a cross-country course).
