Yesterday, incoming University of Delaware president Dennis Assanis named Christine Rawak as the University of Delaware’s new athletic director, replacing interim AD and CRR Matt Robinson. This allows Robinson to return to his faculty role as director of UD’s Sport Management Program and his “primary responsibility” as self-appointed CEO of the Creek Road Runners. “My thanks to…Matt Robinson for steering us through this time of change in Athletics,” Assanis said. “His deep knowledge of athletics issues and his personal leadership were invaluable to the department and to the University.”
In a locker room interview yesterday, Robinson said he was happy for the opportunity to have served as interim AD but is eager to get back to working out on Creek Road.

CRR April Anderson recently won her age division (70+) in the Hilton Head (S.C.) 5K. Her time was 41:59, edging out her nearest competitor by 40 seconds. Husband and CRR Bruce Hubbard watched and cheered, his own attempt at the Hilton Head Half Marathon having been squelched because, on the way to Hilton Head, he had taken a fall and broken five ribs. He conceded, “Life is tough for us 70-and-overs!”
“Dorothy Miller passed away at her home [yesterday] morning. She was one of the leaders of the initiative to establish an Advisory Council for White Clay Creek State Park and one of the initial representatives to the Council.
Having seen the previous post, CRR Tom Apple, one of two Creek Road Runners on the island of Oahu, sent word from Hawai‘i. He says, “We had the polar vortex here too; it was 61 the other morning— BRRR!” Thanks for the “bad” weather update.
